Integration and Society

Statistics Finland’s preliminary data show 30,213 immigrants and 16,570 emigrants in January–August 2026. Deaths outnumbered births by 7,162, so migration was the only source of growth.

The government's proposal to reform the Act on the Promotion of Immigrant Integration (HE 74/2026 vp) is before Parliament. The new rules are intended to enter into force on 1 January 2027.
