Government proposes a one-year wait before international students’ families can apply

Under a proposal submitted to Parliament on 10 September 2026, students’ family members could apply only after the student has been in Finland for a year. A language requirement and a fixed income amount are also proposed.

EU Talent Pool regulation adopted: an EU-wide job-matching platform for workers outside the EU

Regulation (EU) 2026/1047 creates an online platform to match jobseekers living outside the EU with employers in participating Member States in shortage occupations. It is not a residence permit.
